How we choose our brands
We focus on small and mid-sized businesses with a clear connection to life outside. Before accepting a brand, we look at who they are, what they make, and how they look after their customers.
- A fit for the market. Gear Shop brands should share our focus on the outdoors. In the Makers Market, we look for thoughtfully made goods from small and mid-sized makers that belong alongside that outdoor way of life.
- Quality over quantity. We prioritize product quality over the size of a catalog. We want goods made with care and a clear purpose.
- Fulfillment and returns. We review the arrangements for getting orders to customers and handling returns, so the responsibilities are understood before a brand joins.
- Care for the customer. We look for vendors who take their customers seriously and care about the experience after the sale.

Kula Cloth
A small piece of gear with a story rooted in wilderness stewardship. Founder Anastasia Allison was working as a park ranger when toilet-paper litter on a Washington wilderness trip inspired her to rethink outdoor hygiene. Research, prototypes and field testing led to Kula Cloth, a reusable pee cloth designed to clip to a pack. The brand brings art and community into an everyday trail essential.

One market. Independent businesses.
Off Trail Market was founded by Jerry Wright and Matt Fish, longtime friends and elk hunting partners. We bring independent outdoor brands together in the Gear Shop and Makers Market. You check out with Off Trail Market; each brand packs and ships its own products. Orders from several brands may arrive in separate packages.
Brand introductions above draw on the makers' own published stories and product information. A brand's location does not mean every product is manufactured there; check individual listings for materials and origin details.
